Working Together to recover from the pandemic

2020 was challenging to say the least for hospitality and food businesses. A group of businesses in Finchingfield decided to come together to help each other through this unnerving time, not only by providing each other with moral support, but also to use some of the Covid ‘downtime’ to proactively develop a more united approach to attract post-Covid visitors to one of the most picturesque villages in Essex.

Thus Finchingfield Business Guild was formed.

The founding members of the Guild are: Finchingfield Post Office, Wonky-Wheel, The Fox on the Green, The Finchingfield Lion, Finchingfield Camping, The Spains Hall Estate and Toppesfield Vineyard. Since its foundation, the Guild has proven extremely popular and has grown exponentially, with businesses and organisations taking advantage of the opportunity to work together. The concept, a modern reinvention of the century’s old notion of like-minded trades and business working together in a Guild for mutual benefit has captured the imagination of a post-Covid generation of fiercely independent businesses. Fired by the spirit of entrepreneurship and fuelled by the pride they take in the services they deliver to their customers the Finchingfield Guild is helping to restore and reinvigorate its members as well as actively sharing this very special destination with a wider audience.

One of the first actions of the Guild has been to start to create that definition and draw together all of the venues and activities available in the locale. To this end the founding members have created a website and social media presence.

The website ( https://www.finchingfield.org/) already includes a growing calendar of village events planned for this summer and beyond, Covid restrictions permitting.
